Rising Stars Summer Camp

HHS Pride Productions is honored to host the Rising Stars Theatre Camp for all middle school students who have a love of theatre. This two-week immersive camp will teach your child the ins and outs of what goes into theatre productions at the high school level. They will have an opportunity to learn:

• The art of auditions
• Stage performing techniques
• Backstage tasks such as lighting, set and sound
• Costume and make-up
• Choreography and movement

Heritage High School students will have the opportunity to volunteer to assist with all aspects of the summer camp production experience as student mentors. Anyone interested in volunteering for the 2024 Season should contact the Theatre Director.

Cost: $500 (for 2 weeks)

Shows are open to the public. Tickets are $5/pp.

Concessions sold the night of the show.

All proceeds go to fund HHS Pride Productions shows and enrichment activities.

Attendance & Paperwork responsibility

(drop off/pick-up process)

1. Mandatory parental sign-in/sign-out on day of attendance
2. The Director is responsible for all attendance record keeping and paperwork.
3. The Director shall meet the parents and their students before and after the event in the designated meeting place (the HHS lobby).
4. If your child is sick and cannot be in attendance or in the event of an emergency, please email hhsprideproductions@gmail.com.

 Communication with Parents

1. The primary mode of communication will be via email (hhsprideproductions@gmail.com).
2. Parents and students should communicate with Heritage High School Drama Booster Staff by hhsprideproductions@gmail.com.
3. No personal emails or cell phone numbers will be distributed to anyone outside the immediate adult staff.
4. Please do not contact Heritage High School Administration, or Loudoun County Public Schools, as they are not responsible for the program. 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made by HHSDBA due to weather or other emergency issues will be announced on our website as well as in emails sent directly to all families enrolled. In the event of a cancellation, information about a possible make-up class will be shared by the instructor/director. 

Refund Policy

In the event of insufficient enrollment, a full refund will be given. Registration is a commitment to paying the entire fee. If the student/participant drops out prior to the start of a event, for any reason, the amount paid may be applied towards a future program. All fees are non-refundable. No exceptions. All withdraws (dropouts) must be made in writing at least one (1) week prior to the start of the program, in order for payments to be transferred to another program. No exceptions. Only paid in full accounts are eligible to be applied to a new program.

Food

Students must bring a non-perishable lunch and any additional snacks for each day of the event. Food is not included in the program tuition. After collecting information about student allergies, additional requests may be made. 

Participation Permission

The Heritage High School Drama Boosters is an independent, registered 501(c)3. HHSDBA holds it's own insurance policy and is not an entity of Loudoun County Public Schools, but rather independently supports the needs of Heritage High School Theatre. 

As a result, HHSDBA will not have access to any child's IEP or HCP per federal HIPPA and FERPA regulations. HHSDBA has been granted permission to use the facility by HHS Administration. However, we welcome every child. Our Director is CPR/AED trained. You may work with the Director to create a plan and environment where your child excels and succeeds! Medical Emergencies / Privacy

Per federal HIPPA and FERPA laws, I understand that all information supplied on this form will be kept strictly confidential and that Heritage Theatre Boosters will never divulge any personal information to a third party without my written consent. 

Photo and Video Release

By submitting this form, I grant permission for any and all photographs or videos taken at HHS Rising Star Day Program to be used by HHSDBA in displays or for advertising in, but not limited to, newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and brochures. I understand that no personal information will be associated with any photographs or videos without my prior written consent and that no compensation is offered.  

Declaration by Parent or Legal Guardian

Being the parent/legal guardian of the student I am registering, I declare that the information and medical details on this form are correct to the best of my knowledge and I hereby apply for a space at the Heritage High School Drama Boosters’ Rising Star Day Program indicated for my child or ward. I understand that HHSDBA, reserves the right to restrict admission at its own discretion.  

By submitting this form, I hereby state that I release all the members of HHS Drama Booster Association, Staff, Board, and any other party involved in the organization and administration of HHS Drama Boosters from any liability as a result of any injury sustained or the unlikely event of death in or around a HHS Drama Booster venue.  

Forensics Club

Forensics is a competitive event sponsored by VHSL in which students perform speeches or dramatic interpretations of literature. The VHSL State Forensics Meet is an annual competition that brings together the best high school forensic competitors from across Virginia. To qualify for State, students must place in the top 3 in their category at a Local level competition, then place in the top 3 in their category at the Regional level competition.

Virginia High School League (VHSL) is an organization that promotes education, leadership, sportsmanship, character, and citizenship for students by establishing and maintaining high standards for school activities and competitions. Improv Club

Improv is a term that refers to improvisation, which is a form of live theater where the performers make up the dialogue, story, and characters on the spot. It is often used in comedy, but it can also be used in drama and other genres. 

In improv, the performers must be quick-witted and creative to keep the story moving forward. They must listen carefully to their fellow performers and respond in a way that advances the plot. The goal is to create a cohesive story that is entertaining and engaging for the audience.

Cappies Critics

The Critics and Awards Program for High School Students (Cappies) is an international program that recognizes, celebrates and provides learning experiences for high school theater and journalism students and teenage playwrights. The program operates in 13 regions across the United States and Canada with each region consisting of 5 to 55 participating high schools (Heritage belongs to the Blue Ridge Cappies). 

Within each region, every participating high school selects three to nine students for a critic team. These teams are selected through an application process at the end of the previous school year. After receiving training in theater criticism and review writing, they attend plays and musicals at other high schools in their area. They write reviews (of roughly 400 words) on deadline. They are assisted by volunteer teacher-mentors who lead discussions and select the critic-written reviews that are later published by area newspapers with student bylines.

International Thespian Society Membership

(International Thespian Society Troupe 6743)

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. Thespian troupes serve students in grades 9-12. Festivals are held annually at the state and national levels where students can compete for recognition and awards.

To be eligible for lifetime Thespian membership, students in grades nine through twelve must attend a school with an active Thespian troupe and complete a sufficient quantity and quality of work in theatre arts. A one-time induction fee is required, and troupes may assess additional participation fees at their discretion. Thespians may earn additional honors for work done after induction. Most Thespian benefits last through grade twelve. Graduated members become Thespian alumni.
